Colorado Winter Mountain Wedding Sunset
We love playful couples, we love sunset photography, and we love it when we have time to get the photos couples want. Matt and Tehl had planned a destination wedding to Colorado. It was a love for the mountains and probably an excuse to snowboard the morning of your wedding day. Well . . . He got to snowboard. She had a minor makeup reworking due to the initial look resembled “Avatar”. Overall, we think that sounds pretty cool that she was made to match her blue flower bouquet. On the other side of things her being crazy tall would not look well in photos. The diamond like look in the face would however have been unique and matched the sparkle in the dress.
We met up with them at the rental home in Breckenridge. We got some of the unique details that fit their passions. We made our way over to Sapphire Point Overlook for the wedding ceremony. The snow had melted down about a foot in a week. There were some icy patches in a couple of the shady spots on the trail. This made for some nice candids of the slipping of a groomsmen escorting the bride down the trail with her dress hiked up. Her mom walked her down the
aisle trail. He was ducking to try to get a glimpse of her past the tree blocking the view of his bride. Upon sight of her the tears began to come. The ceremony was simple with some custom written vows and a rope tying. After the ceremony there were some dancings at the ceremony site as well as a champagne toast. We got some photos afterward and the videographer got some video as well as drone footage. We include some examples of the wedding day drone for the fun of it.
Sapphire Point can be a gorgeous place but as the day goes on the sunset is often hard to really get in its full prime glory. There are high level clouds that build over the mountains and linger overnight. For their wedding day it was one of the better sunsets we have seen at this location. We love how they could be a little adventurous and give us the time to play in the snow mountain bowl overlooking the mountains. You can see more mountain weddings here. If you like what you see here and are considering using this location here are some of the other shoots we have done at Sapphire Point.
