Colorado Solar Eclipse Wedding DayWedding Details:
It was a 93% coverage partial solar eclipse in the Estes Park area of Colorado. I am not sure why but David and Leah did not want to wait for the full Solar Eclipse passing through Colorado August 12th . . . 2045. It will be a Saturday highly coveted by brides so booking 28 years in advance would likely be a good idea to ‘save the date’. As you might guess that discussion did not likely happen. Things started off fairly chill without the normal traditions we normally see on wedding days. We were however married on a Monday and made the day our own so we are all for it. The ceremony was out at the Huth Overlook Chapel at the YMCA of the Rockies. It is a dirt road backwoods kind of place with a west view. It is ideal for the afternoon evening time with the lighting. On Eclipse days it however will start to get this eerie kind of shade falling over the area midday. There were some clouds rolling through also creating some light shade. The ceremony started and then there was to be a break mid ceremony for the 2 minute and 43 second eclipse. We needed to use both flashes to get enough light to overpower the sun. We simultaneously had another camera on a tripod zoomed in at 300mm to get the sun itself. A 3rd camera was turned toward everyone wearing glasses. Unfortunately the clouds were blocking the partial eclipse but we did get a few 80-90% coverage shots in the ceremony when the clouds were thinner.
Afterward we went over to Lionscrest Manor for an afternoon reception. The space was a perfect size for the guests and had good flow between the spaces. They kept the day rather simple and focused things in on the people. There was lots of laughter and playful emotion. Certain things like the men dancing groping one another’s butts was one of those things you just have to show in the blog. There was also those moments that if you look close in the first dances you can see mom with some tears in the background. Things ended with some family songs doing some dancing and singing together.
