Stone Mountain Lodge Wedding | Lyons, CO
Adventurous couples have more fun on their wedding day!Wedding Details:
As wedding photographers always leave 30+ minutes early when we are going to shoot a wedding. One reason is we hate being late to anything, especially someone’s wedding, and the other is we sometimes get unexpected delays. Most commonly these are for Saturday Colorado mountain weddings toward Vail. In this case though we were stopped .25 from the entrance of Stone Mountain Lodge due to road construction off of 36 just outside of Lyons, Colorado. It was the result of the colorado flood in 2013 that wiped out much of the road between Lyons and Estes Park. Thankfully, we still arrived on time and wedding photography was not impacted.
Angela was getting her hair done by her friend who must be a hair stylist or should consider that being her new profession. Matt was relaxing out on a bench under a tree. Once ready they had an emotional first look out on the green at Stone Mountain Lodge where they would perform their wedding ceremony. We then took them around the grounds for some pre-wedding couple photography. As we walked some down the road vehicles passing by would honk, cheer, and say congratulations.
For those of you who are reading this and are engaged, dating, or have never been married you will laugh a lot as people honk at the bride on her wedding day. As photographers we have learned the bride has the right to be highly adventurous because she is in the white dress. We could put someone in the middle of the road and people would be more patient. No middle of the roads for us but we still had a lot of fun with the wedding photography as Matt and Angela were adventurous, outdoorsy, and not afraid of flowers or cacti.
The Colorado mountain wedding ceremony was simple and joy filled. The wedding officiant referred to Matt as a him/her in error which made for a comical ceremony moment in the wedding. The cocktail hour was made up of vodka lemonade (we speculate), miscellaneous other drinks, laughing, a custom engraved corn hole game, and some awesome sunset which we loved for photography. The reception was under the tent onsite at Stone Mountain Lodge and was fit with emotion, energy, and getting cupcake out of one’s eye and nose.
Stone Mountain Lodge Wedding Venue Review:
Stone Mountain Lodge is great for weddings were the couple wants a laid back mountain wedding in a beautiful setting. The staff that runs the events there on site changed this year and the improvement was certainly noticed. Things were setup and moved around much faster and little things just seemed to come together more quickly. There were also some unique touches on site like the canoe filled with ice and drinks.
