St Mary’s Glacier Proposal | Idaho Springs
Propose on a Mountain HikeEngagement Proposal Details:
Paulene had flown in from VA to see Julian. It was her first time in Colorado and a first for the elevation. Julian had planned out a day and what better way to kick it off than with a diamond ring? We planned out a spot for them at St. Mary’s Glacier. It is a popular day hike with a mountain lake, great views, and year round snow. From the parking area it is a short hike up to the lake. It is a 420 ft elevation gain and 10,428 at the parking area which made for Pauline feeling a little weak from altitude.
What better way to help your girlfriend forget about the elevation than to give her an engagement ring? Julian and he had gone up there to check things out. There are so many places, angles, and people so a plan was very helpful for getting the right angles. A group was in the spot shortly before they arrived. We let them know what would go down soon and they when up the hill to watch. The girls told the guys to take notes! Once the proposal happened this group shouted, hooted, and made a hilarious scene.
The ring was retrieved from the backpack in a move appearing to look like he was getting other things like water. He setup a camera perhaps for a video that was to appear to be a selfie. He was nervous, she was joyfully afraid of the ring, got teary, said yes somewhere in between wiping the tears, and smiled so much that we think her face must have hurt! We are glad it was a yes since the joke was someone was going over a cliff if there was a no. So as to not incriminate anyone we won’t say more than that. Enjoy the proposal engagement photos below!
