Proposal | Sapphire Point Overlook Trail | Winter | Dillon, CO
Surprise Trip to Colorado . . . Surprise ProposalProposal Details:
Notice our emphasis on the word ‘Surprise’. For Nathan and Natalie the approach was to go fairly radical in the level of the unknown type surprises. The original idea was to break into her apartment (with a key?) and put the suitcase on the bed with a note of what to pack and a boarding pass for a flight to Denver. They both work at the same elementary school so he was thinking to find a way to scoot out a little early. The intention was to get on the earlier flight over and have one of those cool men with the LASTNAME on the cards to take her to a hotel. The reason why we share this is to note that he was trying to make it extremely special.
It was certainly a long play on the suspense of the proposal which would likely produce the moments of doubt and confusion. I guess you could say its one thing to get a note with go get your nails done or have a spa day but it is something else to go to this beautiful place. It is one of those things that is so out there that it might even work. Overall we found it seemed to work well to make it a last minute (to her knowledge) trip to Colorado for the weekend.
We believe the first things said when getting to the Overlook of Sapphire Point was ‘Wow Babe’. As he held her hands there was this playful shuffling of the feet implying this hint that something might be coming. As his hand hit his pocket there was this playful giggle cause she knew what he was reaching for in his pocket as he got down on one knee. He asked and she said YES! There was this shout out from people down the trail who saw what was happening.
When she heard that the photographer down the trail was for them she had a louder outburst of happy gitty joy then proceeded to playfully shove him. We then got some additional photos around the Sapphire Point area. There was some snow rolling in that brought in some clouds before them. The impact was more that you lost a little of the background and that it was a little cooler without the warmth of the sun.
