Proposal Instead of Dog SleddingProposal Details:
We love dogs, our Golden Retriever loves sledding, but we have never been dog sledding. When Alex reached out with the idea to propose to Leslie while dog sledding my first thought was if that is actually a thing you can do in Colorado. Well I found out that you can definitely do it and of all places in Breckenridge, CO. They were staying in Breck with a group of friends on a mountain ski trip. Leslie certainly seemed excited at the prospect of going dog sledding but a little confused why everyone else didn’t seem to want to go with them.
As you would guess by seeing these images there were no dogs or sleds in the proposal. We opted for a generally more predictable option at Sapphire Point Overlook. Upon getting to the location at sunrise I noticed something far from predictable – other cars in the parking lot. As irony plays out a couple people camped out down on the overlook in negative degree winter weather. As romantic as it would be to propose next to people snoring and a smoldering camp fire I thought it better to go to plan B. Some people might find plan B to be more preferable than what we would normally use due to the view.
The downside of it is that the photographer is difficult to hide. After making a trail and knocking down a wall of snow I looped Alex in on the need for change. (Thank you for being flexible!) The joy of a proposal is awesome to see and even more to be able to capture images of the raw emotion. You can tell a woman is lost in the elated joy of the moment when she doesn’t seem to be distracted by the photographer taking photos. As we love Starbucks we cannot help but end with the hope that you took the recommendation to go snuggle up by the fireplace in the Breckenridge Starbucks to get some caffeine!
You can get proposal ideas from reading past blogs and read about how we do proposals on our engagement proposals page. If you like what you see here and are considering using this location here are some of the other shoots we have done at the Sapphire Point Overlook.
