Proposal | Sapphire Point Overlook | Photoshoot
Photoshoot That Became a ProposalProposal Details:
Two words to sum up the day: Complete Surprise. Eric and Jess were on vacation in Colorado and had come out from Denver for a day in Breck. On the way to Breckenridge they were going to get a photoshoot in the mountains. It was going to be a surprise gender reveal photoshoot. When a guy listens to you and plans something you have been wanting you cannot complain. It might have been a little last minute in terms of when she found out but we brought along some fun little bags with pink and blue paper as reserve props.
How things were to go was we were going to take some photos down by the Overlook at Sapphire Point. We would then move back up by the parking lot for a more scenic view for the actual proposal. With how snowy the parking lot was the trail wasn’t going to allow for the proposal to occur there are give the right angles so we moved it down into the valley some. This made for a good excuse to pull out the snowshoes and play before the shoot. It was -12 out before the sun hit the area. As snowshoeing can be a lot of work it certainly didn’t feel like it was 44 below freezing.
Right before the proposal started Jessica’s mom showed up. With a GoPro recording up the hill the emotional proposal was kicked off. We have seen a lot of proposals but perhaps it was the deep powder but its the first time the girl fell down and gave him a kiss elated with joy. At that point the emotion was about at the peak of what I think humans can produce.
To see her mom come down the hill toward her took the joy to a level of what we can only label extreme elated unbelief kind of joy. When you think your parents are in another state and you have them right there in such a huge moment of your life the impact cannot be expressed well in words. Its part of why we love photos – it helps you remember how you felt in that moment. Oh – And if you are wondering . . . Blue means it’s a Boy!
