Proposal | Mount Evans Summit
Sunset Proposal on Mount Evans Summit
Alone on a summit of a Colorado Mountain 14er is a rather epic place to propose. For Gareth and Emily they drove in the day before from Dallas. The day started over at Pikes Peak. We are not sure why but it seems that is more popular than Mount Evans. It might be the cliff edges and deeper in the mountain drive. Either way we think Mount Evans has the better view with no debate. You have Mount Spaulding and Mount Beirstadt right there so some rather large peaks nearby. On a hazy day like this one from the fires in Colorado that is kinda critical to have for photos since the visibility is less than on a normal day. The air up there was thin but not the normal above treeline air. It was certainly spiced with a little bit of smoke as you could feel it later. Photos turned out great though with some aid of off camera lighting. The summit was empty minus the photographer parked up there. When you are on a mountain peak while we would love to say we were hidden it is a little bit impossible. As for the angle and the spot he nailed it perfectly from the proposal plan. Now the ring box was upside down when he got it out but outside of that humorous thing it went perfect. As for photos afterward there was a little breeze but a clear sky sunset. As the sun was about to go down we were able to get some really awesome stuff. Too bad we can only shoot up there for a few months a year cause it is rather amazing. She will be out of breath from the walk but also from getting the rock. We found it rather smooth that he said he was going to get her a rock on both mountains. I think she certainly liked the second rock the most!
