Proposal Long Lake | Sunrise
Secluded Sunrise Lake Proposal in ColoradoProposal Details:
We love highly accessible and highly secluded locations. Kennedy and Cassidy went out for a sunrise walk to this spot off of Long Lake. The original idea was to go to Sapphire Point. It is not that there is anything wrong with Sapphire Point outside of it just being a mini wedding / elopement factory in the summer months. Most places at sunrise are fairly low key. The Maroon Bells can be a bit nuts with all the photographers with cameras on tripods to get the iconic perfect sunrise photo of the iconic Colorado location. Places like Long Lake – well people are not taking photos of it. All the photography enthusiasts will be using their 500mm lenses to take a picture of a moose.
They were staying in Nederland and made the short drive over to Long Lake. He had shipped us a basket of goodies. Inside there was a book of photos of them with some text. There were some baggies of makeup, a mirror, a blanket, and well pretty much everything needed to clean up the makeup after a good proposal cry. After 8 years of being together I guess you could say he knows his (now) fiancé. We found it super sweet and thoughtful to have makeup reinforcements waiting for her after the proposal. For us it was a bit more work to get all our gear out in addition to this basket. If at this point you think – ‘perfect – this guy can help me get my table and chairs out to this remote location on top of a mountain’ . . . well not as much. We are all for capturing the vision but it may not work everywhere. As a comical example, we were once asked to have a projector + screen out in a mountain location for a slideshow. Imagine that in this location but then think of all the problems with it such as power, wind, it needing to be a huge / heavy projector to be bright enough, a laptop, etc. How thankful we are that his vision was a basket of goodies!
As inferred by this blog it was a YES response. Looking back at the video I am not sure it was clear if it was the actual word or something else but clearly it was an affirmative response of spending the rest our lives together. We were shooting at a 300mm distance in the trees so even though it was really quiet out we did not hear much. We will not the angle was PERFECT and the spot was even more PERFECT. He thought we were in a different part of the trees so perhaps this was by mistake but it was the ideal angle. This was probably the best video we have been able to get with how we were able to put it so close to them but so low to the ground. They were still rather quiet outside of her ‘how the heck’ comment when seeing a book of them in the basket.
Long Lake is in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area and one of the couple mountain lakes. If you like the look of this location here are some other shoots at Long Lake.
