Mountain Proposal After the RainProposal Details:
Colorado Mountains are predictably variable when it comes to the weather. For Mike and Blanca this was definitely the case on the day of their getting engaged. They were in Colorado and from the looks of things enjoying everything from seeing the Colorado Rockies play some baseball to getting out in the mountains. They were in Boulder exploring the area up on Flagstaff Mountain before their evening dinner reservations (I think it was the Flagstaff House). At one point further up the mountains they saw what sounded to be a mountain lion. Wisely they did not get close for a selfie with it like some people do with Elk and Moose. It was one of those days that as a photographer you are watching the weather closely. In Colorado the basic principle is wait 30 minutes and it will be different. They got up there before us and thankfully were waiting in the car due to some rain. Getting up there 15 minutes early has its perks as the moment the storm passed they were able to pop out of the car and it be natural. She was an observant one and noticed me in the distance. Thankfully she did not think I was a creep taking their photo but rather she thought I was relieving myself in the bushes. That was a first but it was also a first for me trying a different angle as they added some additional fencing.
In case you missed the implied point of the blog – it was a YES. You could hear shouts out about how the ring was gorgeous from my position in the woods. She was floating in the clouds over what had just happened. When the camera was eventually pointed out she got even more excitable at the joy that these memories were captured. Afterward we went back a little further on the rocks for some photos. It was definitely a different look that some other times we have shot there. With the way the sun came out and the big white puffy clouds covering the distant mountains it surely had a different look. Everything was so luscious and green. Yes . . . we just called trees luscious. They were like happy well lit broccoli on rolling hills. Well this blog ending must mean it is dinner time. Speaking of which that was how the celebration continued.
You can get Boulder Area proposal ideas from reading past blogs and read about how we do proposals on our engagement proposals page. If you like what you see here and are considering using this location here are some of the other shoots we have done at Lost Gulch Overlook on Flagstaff Mountain.
