About the time we were leaving to go shoot the proposal Kerry and Karmen were on scooters in Cheeseman Park.  We were planning to meet them up at Lost Gulch Overlook on Flagstaff Mountain just outside of Boulder.  It was one of those days that makes you want to break out the flip flops and bask in the warm winter sun.  It was an ideal day to tour the city.  They were in town for a friends wedding on Saturday.  It didn’t seem like Karmen saw it coming at the moment.

When they got up to the mountain overlook ironically they wandered over to a bench were I had stashed a bottle of Champagne and some glasses.  Her remark of how someone is going to be celebrating (something like that) was quite comical.  Between when we arrived and they arrived the people there doubled.  I guess that should be expected for being so close to CU, it being a warm Friday, and it being closer to sunset.  This just made things a little more challenging for the one taking photos to not get people in the background.  This meant more moving around.

Midway through the proposal I dropped down to get a better angle and a guy named Willy just happened to be in the spot. After the proposal when pointing out Joe you could see a little confusion from Kerry seeing that it didn’t look like me but Willy was in the right spot taking photos.  He was a photo enthusiast that was uber friendly.  He stuck around to help keep the softbox from blowing over with the wind.  We came to find Kerry isn’t the wine kind of guy and the Champagne was mainly for Karmen.  Overall I think that sums up the intent of Kerry.  Its not that he had been dreaming up ‘Colorado Mountain proposal with a paparazzi of photographers in bushes’ but more ‘what can I do to show Karmen how much she means to me with making this special’.
