Colorado Mountain Lake ProposalProposal Details:

We absolutely love taking photos at Brainard Lake.  When first getting in touch with Brandon about his proposing to Kylie somewhere in the mountains near a lake was envisioned.  Brainard Lake Recreation area is one of those really ideal locations for getting the mountain lake feel but also the trees, fields, and some exposed mountains.  When first getting there there were around 12 people fishing at the spot ideal for proposing.  Needless to say this wouldn’t fit the vision of more private with less people around.  Generally there are only a couple people around as the road around the lake is open but nonetheless we were able to give people a heads up on a guy proposing.  This then created a distant audience of a couple people that cheered from the other part of the lake.

They were in Denver from Phoenix apartment hunting due to a recent job change.  If you hadn’t gotten the news that there was a move don’t feel left out – it was happening fast and well this is quite recent.  They look a little drive out through Boulder up to the Ward Colorado area. This was the first time we have been able to use the spot as a proposal but thought everything worked out beautifully. Brandon took his time proposing which certainly can help lead up to things and not make it seem like you just ran out somewhere and plopped down on one knee when she wasn’t looking.

The look in her eye when he was just talking to her before getting down on one knee seemed to communicate she thought something was going on.  When he got down on one knee the reaction switched to a two hand over the mouth move.  I think women are trained in doing this to not scream out in joy.  There were tears – in her eyes, on his shoulder.  It was a very certain and confident YES from her with a hint of ‘of course I will with zero doubt’ in the tone.  When a women is this sure of you both forever completely surprising her is very difficult.  We believe this is a very good thing because proposing is not about the event but about the celebration of the relationship and making official what has been developing between you two for some time.  Its not all about creating a crazy story that will show up in the news.  It is her seeing how much you love her, want to be with her, and therefore want to make it special.

We want to make it as much of a surprise as possible but sometimes it is harder.  In the post proposal talk about the proposal – kinda like a couples debrief about the behind the scenes thoughts – it was revealed little things added up as being different like paying for a bag on a plane, renting a car for this trip, planing to sleep on a friends couch, etc.  Alone they wouldn’t be anything but all together it hinted that something might be up.  Either way – you all looked awesome and as seen in these photos were so freakin happy!
