Proposal | Brainard Lake | Fall | Ward, CO
Snowy Colorado Fall Mountain ProposalProposal Details:
We have been snowed on in the peak of summer so snow in the fall is just a normal part of life. For Karl and Kathryn they were debating between Denver and San Francisco. Both are locations that can be in the 80’s and next thing you know its 40 degrees cooler out. Clothing wise I am not sure they were expecting to see snow on the ground. Really at 10k it was just a dusting that was melting away so nothing that would linger. Even up on the 13ers in the background of the photos it had melted some throughout the day. Perhaps we should offer coffee or hot coco in a package instead of champagne?
Being more passionate on the coffee end of things if we got Starbucks it would get cold and we would want to get ‘their drink’ so it likely would need to be something freshly roasted. We digress – SO . . . On this trip they were doing some exploring of the mountains with some hiking in there. Places included Devil’s Head Lookout, Garden of the God’s, and of course – Brainard Lake Recreation Area. It is a favorite place to shoot but soon to close for the year due to that white fluffy stuff. After it closes you can still get in through a 2.3 mile walk but most don’t opt for going that route.
The look on her face was priceless. The mouth dropped open and the eyes got big when he dropped to his knee. The first tear came in 5 seconds. When the ring appeared 36 seconds into the proposal the look of ‘its so big!’ came out. Then comes the part we always love. The couple steps back, wipe of more tears, and that playful bending over. Translation of this for those who do not see a lot of proposals is when a woman knees buckle some and she takes a few steps back and kinda shuffles her feet it just means the emotion is high – in the best of ways. The next level of emotion normally involves pulling someone special in like a parent that is to be in another state who was watching in the distance.
Some people, like them, prefer things more private so parents can just relive these moments with them in the blog. It was 75 seconds into the proposal when we were noticed which appears to provoke the question of if we were there for her which produced laughter followed by looking at the ring on her finger. So I know she said the ring was so big, too big – kinda almost to the point of you need to take it back but everything in her facial expressions screamed he did well with the ring.
Lastly, to the point of being awkward in photos what was seen in the camera was two people in love and riding high on the joy of the relationship moving closer toward marriage. They look comfortable in all snuggled up and if anything as illustrated with the sitting on the rock – I think she that was being natural. Could definitely picture his lap being a chair in Starbucks with a good book.
