So what did you do today?  ‘Oh, well we went on a Jeep Tour in Rocky Mountain National Park and then over to this place called Brainard Lake.  Got a shiny ring for my finger.’ . . . We doubt it went like that for Kylee describing her day with Alex.  It was probably more of a ring in the face with that excited ‘were getting married!’  Not to say that a tour of RMNP is not fun but getting a ring and taking that next step forward in the relationship kinda trumps anything you could do.  As a guy you want the day to be special but there is in the end this reality that the thing that matters the most to her will be what is happening between you both.  All that to say if you want to parachute into Brainard Lake and have a string quartet come from the bushes that will add to the experience and make other people jealous.  Yet, if you are thinking that hard you might be thinking outside the box too far trying too much to make up for something.  We call this getting off subject . . . They made it to Brainard Lake and casually walked out to the spot outlined for the proposal.  A friend had supposedly recommended going by the place and he had descriptors like this ‘big rock’ and so on.  This story had just enough reality to it as a friend had come out recently.  Nonetheless the end result was that she did not see it coming.  Her nails were done nice from what I can remember but it was not that she saw it happening at that moment.  Afterward we took some more photos working around when the sun would pop out behind the clouds.  One thing that is nice about high elevation locations in Colorado is that the clouds that come through are patchy and constantly changing.  This makes for some variety but also makes it so the whole shoot is rarely kinda blah with the lack of sun.
