Surprise Proposal on Aspen Mountain
On a Saturday in June it is almost impossible to avoid weddings. They were in Aspen and due to an awesome winter of snow there was still 5 feet of snow up on the mountain. The plan was to do the Ajax trail up Aspen Mountain but with the higher than normal amounts of snow still around the plan was canned and the story changed. We found out later that the story was they were going to meet someone up there to do some snow shoeing. This certainly helped keep it more natural for them but in the end produced a more athletic type clothing. One perk likely was that they were not sweaty from the hike and actually made it up to the top. We were planning to use the wedding deck space but the concierge desk redirected us to another wedding site functionally speaking. Little did they know that there was a noon wedding there with 200+ guests and the other site didn’t have a wedding till the afternoon. As he proposed the musicians had some fun with things and began to rehearse a love song for the wedding that was soon to come. Photos were being taken somehow hidden in a snowbank in a tree. They celebrated over some champagne before going back down to the Little Nell Residences for a surprise engagement party.
This spot is a new one for us and functionally it can work year round. It is not a place we can name but it is outside the ski boundary and a short walk from the Gondola. Go to the following to see the other work on the blog in Aspen.
