Print Your Wedding Photography Imagery
Photography is to be enjoyed. We believe that one of the best ways to enjoy it is in a printed medium. Our couples receive digital images with the rights to do whatever they prefer. Most frequently they are used in social media and printing out some small sized prints on paper from somewhere like Walgreens. We realize that there are a couple common reasons behind why couples often pass on getting unique or larger prints from their engagement or wedding.
Lack of Quality
This is part of the reason why we do not have wedding pictures on the wall. The lack of quality is often in images being soft (blurred), poorly lit, not reflective of you as a couple, not taken with a large print in mind or with quality equipment at a high resolution. To say it another way the photographer quality was lacking to be able to use your photos for prints. If this is lacking we don’t blame you for not getting prints.
Lack of Space
Unless you are getting married later when you are more established you might not be in a house or the house you are in may not accommodate a nice print. When we were married we were in a small apartment and it wasn’t till we got in a home that we had the space. Ultimately, if we had received quality we would have gotten a larger print but with what we received we could barely print 5x7s.
Lack of Money
We believe you will spend money on what you value. As a married couple who just paid for the wedding yourself you will spend money on food rather than a large print because you value living. We get that and recommend you eat. One thing to consider however is that there are always things that will come up and so that is why we believe it comes down to what you value.
Lack of Ability
This is either because you either had low quality photos, live in a shoe box, eat rice and beans daily, or perhaps your photographer never offered you any options. Some photographers will not inform a couple of their options therefore they never know what is out there and never think to do anything. It might also be that the photographer doesn’t offer anything unique like metal or acrylic type prints.
What we Believe About Prints
Quality is Assumed
Would you go with a photographer if you knew quality was an issue? If you say ‘yes’ then you likely understand and accept if you don’t get much you can print. Assuming you found a good photographer you expect quality. Yet, what you may not look at is if you can actually print the image at a larger size. You don’t want to be life size in the print. You also don’t want to print something large with a plain washed out background. Wide angle coupled with proper lighting is essential to getting images worthy of larger prints.
Space and Money are Subjective
You will make room for and spent money on what you value. If you love football you will find a way to watch the game and something to watch it on. We don’t blame you for not wishing to put a large image up in your home when the quality is lacking. For couples with limited wall space or who are waiting to get something up on the wall till they buy the home we recommend Acrylic blocks, pictured above, which look like glass blocks that make the image look a little 3D. They cost less and can go almost anywhere.
Options are Available
We try to keep things simple and so many couples have everything they need to book us without coming over for an in person consultation. This means they may not hold samples in their hands before the wedding or engagement shoot. We nonetheless love to help couples be aware of the options to get prints. We offer a range of the traditional paper or canvas to what we love the most in the metal and acrylic mediums. For out of town couples we can show you in person on your way out of town or over FaceTime or Skype.
What is it Like to Get a Large Print?
First, what is LARGE? How you define large depends on expectations and likely a little bit of what you have experienced in life. For us large would likely be printing something at a billboard size. Generally, we find someone will feel something is large if it comes close to feeling life sized. So what does it look like? Below are images of us unboxing a 40×70 sized print for our home. One thing to note is that unless the print is over 30×40 you likely won’t need to review screws from a wooden box.
