Gross Reservoir Wedding
Windy Point at Gross Reservoir WeddingWedding Details:
We will give you a hint that the couple times we have been at this ‘Windy Point’ it has not been windy. For Nate and Cailey today it was one of those cool and overcast days. The weekend was a little odd with the front range mountains holding some cloud cover over the mountains. Deeper in the mountains it was a sunny day and in Denver there was also some sun. While the mild mid 50 degree summer weather may have not been pleasant to some guests it was great for the photography as we were expecting the bright morning sun and mid day heat overhead. This would have made for blotchy lighting in the face when shooting in the west direction toward the lake. At least there were some sweat shirts in the car to throw on.
Windy Point is a free Colorado wedding venue. Why? Well it is not a venue but rather public space overlooking a beautiful mountain water reservoir. If you are trying to find out where this Windy Point is located you can search for Gross Reservoir and then looking at the Dam it will be to the left of it. There are Windy Point’s off of 285 as well as in Dillon, CO so know that it can be a fitting name for Colorado locations. This one is a first come first serve type location. For those who want a good view with a low cost look for public land space like this spot. We love these kind of weddings as overall the day is more chill and focused on the people over all the formalities. The ceremony was one that we could appreciate all the more upon finding out during getting ready photos that we know some of the same people. Her dad married them and it was a ceremony of beauty sprinkled with some playful wit. We hear a lot of religious flavored ceremonies but this one was clearly a deep seated richness centered on what God is doing in the relationship. It is one of those weddings that make you get this renewed love of marriage.
