Downtown Denver Engagement | Photojournalism
Photojournalistic Style Engagement SessionEngagement Session Details:
The default for engagement photos is to do a candid posed type photoshoot. What this means is we put you in locations with less people around and position you for getting artistic photos. We will give as much direction as needed but really try to make for the natural in the moment candid look. Matt and Natalie had the vision for more of the candid photojournalistic style. This puts them in more normal locations and scenarios for a night out in Denver. We did mix in some semi posed stuff over at Union Station and on the Millennium bridge but the majority was indoors at a couple locations. We were at the Jazz and Blues club El Chapultepec. It was an open musician type of night for getting some newer musicians some performance experience. To pull this dancing off and be natural you have to have this fun loving passion and maybe a shot at the bar. You can certainly tell they love exploring cities to find these local spots. After some dancing we went down for $1.50 Oysters at Jax Fish House and Oyster Bar. The space is narrow with a bar in the center. There is this artistic look with writing on the brick walls. This makes for a rustic look with some personalization and history. From there we got some night photos out on the Millennium bridge to capture some of the architecture. We had also planned to run by the Bluebird Marquis Theater but sadly they had the lights off so it did not have the look we needed for night photography. We wish we could do more shoots like this that get the local feel of the city life. The majority of what we do on wedding days are the candid photojournalistic style photos so it is awesome to get to weave that into an engagement session.
If you like what you see here and are considering doing something similar here are some of the other shoots we have done downtown Denver.
