Della Terra Mountain Chateau | Estes Park Wedding
Dance in a Field of Mountain Wild FlowersWedding Details:
We knew Dave and Abby were going to have an awesome wedding when we first met them. They are certainly the fun-loving, energetic, adventurous couple. There is something different about weddings were the couple is laid back and just wants to celebrate. For Abby this meant she was spinning and dancing in a mountain field of wild flowers. Dave refrained from dancing because he didn’t have an awesome white dress but nonetheless seemed to love watching his beautiful bride.
We started off when Abby was getting her finishing touches in the Salon. The guys were downstairs in the private theater watching some sports. Bridesmaids were getting the finishing touches of makeup. We got some details, a first look, then got into Rocky Mountain National Park for some mountain photos. A storm was brewing in the distance so we went to a nearby favorite open field with wild flowers surrounded by nearby peaks.
We had some lightning and thunder followed by a few larger rain drops then hail. I think this made it more fun for Dave and Abby as we all ran back to the BMW. We had some more time back at Della Terra and went out into a field. The bridal party was soon ready and took them into a field over by the ceremony site. Wedding guests began to arrive at 4:30. The ceremony was outdoors a short walk or golf kart ride from the main building. One perk about this location is that though it is outdoors for afternoon / evening ceremonies it is sunny but shaded. This keeps you from over heating but also from looking blotchy in wedding photos from bright lighting.
Family photos were following the ceremony. Behind the ceremony site there is a gazebo where Della Terra will have h’orderves for the couple, champagne, and a marriage license. Because Dave and Abby were open to getting out for some photos of them before the ceremony they were able to enjoy their cocktail hour. Even though it was August it did get a little chilly and many enjoyed the space heaters out on the Della Terra Celebration Patio for cocktails.
Dinner was served in the main reception room. It easily sat the 70 guests with plenty of room to spare. The guest book was 4 bottles of wine and gold and silver pens. They also had some other non traditional touches we loved like the custom made wine box that they locked a bottle of Honoro Vera wine in along with notes to read in 5 years. I am surprised to see a Garnacha when Dave loves Pinot Noir and Abby a good Champagne. 🙂 Toasts and Dancing came later along with wearable glow sticks, cigars, shots, and lots of fun!
Della Terra Mountain Chateau Review:
Della Terra is a consistently excellent venue to have your Estes Park mountain wedding! We had Tess for our venue day of wedding coordinator. Pam helped Dave and Abby leading up to the wedding. They have a great team who ensures everything flows, is where it should be, and that you have fun while everything stays on time. We love working with them and believe you should use Della Terra for your wedding day.
It is a high end experience in a place made for beautiful mountain weddings. If the price is too high you can always look at doing your wedding on something other than a Saturday. If you would like to see other work from Della Terra you can check the other Della Terra Weddings on the blog. There is also a wedding featured on the A Colorado Wedding Blog.
