We LOVE Dogs

Bokeh: (Originally /ˈboʊkɛ/, /ˈboʊkeɪ/ boh-kay — also sometimes pronounced as /ˈboʊkə/ boh-kə, Japanese: [boke]) is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light”.  Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause some lens designs to blur the image in a way that is pleasing to the eye, while others produce blurring that is unpleasant or distracting—”good” and “bad” bokeh, respectively. Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field.

The image to the right is from 6 weeks of age when he was cold and just woke up from a nap.  We like to be unique, love photography, and thought a photography term was a good name for him.

Your Dog is a Part of Your Life

We believe your dog (or dogs) are kinda like one of your kids.  They take a lot of time, food, and energy but bring a lot of joy.  A lot of our couples have dogs and we are commonly asked if it is okay to bring the dog on the engagement shoot or what our thoughts are bringing it with you on the wedding day.  We believe . . .

Your dog should be invited to your engagement shoot and wedding.

More than that we believe you should bring him over to play with Bokeh cause he has a lot of energy and loves making new friends.  He sleeps a lot as seen in this picture to the left from 8 weeks of age.  He enjoyed snuggling up in Robin’s Victoria Secret scarf.

Dog Photoshoot Tips

  • Bring a 3rd person along with you on the shoot.  They can watch your dog(s) while we are working with just you both.
  • Make sure the dog gets a lot of rest.  If they are like Bokeh this will not be hard to accomplish as a puppy sleeps 18-20 hours a day it seems.
  • Have a good leash for them that will look good in photos.  We like to have you both in the background and blur you (create bokeh).  We need a leash to be able to keep the dog from running off but also to keep him/her still while we shoot.

New Employee Training

Bokeh has taken great interest in editing photos.  We believe in having a consistent editing of all photos so it will take some time to get him fully trained.  We may move him into a creative role coming up with engagement ideas and shooting locations.

Camera Awareness

Bokeh gets extremely excited to see camera gear come out.  He also is highly aware and attentive to a camera being pointed in his direction.  Ironically, he will instantly calm down and look in the direction of the camera.  In the nearby photos he is modeling in an army jacket Joe was going to wear to go paint balling.  Every now and then he also wears some stylistic glasses.  Thankfully with how much time he gets behind the computer in  training he doesn’t need glasses.  He really has enjoyed the retro fashionable look as he has gotten older.
