Proposal Aspen Mountain | Summer
Summer Proposal on Aspen MountainProposal Details:
Aspen is a rather difficult place to use for proposals. The main thing is that there are not a lot of locations you can use. The places you can use have some logistical challenges or lots of people. Above all those things is that everything just costs more. A great illustration of that is that guys often have come to us seeking to find someone at a price below our starting price. If we could physically walk there the shoot would be unprofitable at some of the target prices when you factor in things like taxes and the overhead for one as this shoot. All that to say it adds up but with great cost in this case comes great reward.
For years we have been working to find a spot that gets the mountains and allows for seclusion. Part of the reason is that while we love the Maroon Bells they are just not like what you see online. In short, they have everything roped off so that you are stuck with the busload of people you rode in with to the tourist spot. People still want it as it’s iconic but no one really ever is clear about how it is busy. When we find a better option for guys they often come back and have told us they were glad for our recommendations as it was crazy busy and not what they were envisioning.
As for this spot it is up the Aspen Mountain Gondola with a little bit of a walk to a spot with a view. In this proposal we used rose petals on the ground at the spot to make it easier for him to find. What we love is that when guys have nerves this serves as a good marker for him. It also adds some romance to the proposal. You can tell it is authentic as she had her jacket over her shoulders covering her purse. Ideally, she would have been fully wearing it but what we find is people love the real reaction and surprise. One thing we love is seeing her two tiered reaction. The first level is to the proposal itself and getting engaged. The second is to the ring when she actually looks at it or processes its epic beauty. In this case it was a massive diamond. Finger work outs will need to be in order to be able to wear it. As you might imagine she had no hesitancy to starting her workout.
With almost all proposals we take hidden photographer proposal photos followed by engagement session like photos. Up on the mountain it was gorgeous with the maroon red mountains behind them and the wild flowers. While many want wild flowers in photos often you just have to go with a spot and see what is there as we find the conditions can vary. As for this location it has worked for both Spring and Summer. Winter would likely work as well though it would be even more expensive to get up there and be harder to sell street clothing.
Here are the shoots on the blog on Aspen Mountain and the other work in Aspen. You can get proposal ideas from reading past blogs and read about how we do proposals on our engagement proposals page.
