Mountain Proposal at Piney LakeProposal Details:

The beauty of the Piney River Ranch location is why people love it.  The mountains unclose with the lake a short walk from the car is quite ideal.  For this proposal it was early in the open season. As additional context please note that you cannot access this location in the Colorado mountain winter.  What this means is while it might be 85 in Texas in Colorado there will still be snow into June preventing access.  Overall at the time of day we took photos and the day of the week it was fairly chill.  We however expect it to be a quite popular location.

She had a good idea something was up as it was a lot of dirt road to get out there.  While it would be passable for most vehicles we would certainly recommend not trying the road in a passenger car you cared about.  While I am sure in an SUV aligned for off-roading you could do it in 30 minutes the drive from paved road was over an hour.  Essentially the start was a little rocky and the last miles were not as well maintained dirt / rock road.  Outside of these factors there was a ‘venue booking’ so just add on some logistics and cost.

It was a day with clouds in this particular area.  This is fairly ideal for the time of day they used to be a ‘soft box’ in the sky.  Under a blue sky day it might be a little harsh or if the clouds bring precipitation then the mountain view would be limited.  The overall idea is that we had a great day but think when you weigh in all the variables there could be some better proposal locations within a similar driving distance from Vail that would cost less.
