Denver Museum of Nature and Science Wedding | July
Denver Wedding Venue Overlooking City Skyline and MountainsWedding Details:
We love weddings which is good cause we have shot more than 300 at the time of this one. What we love about weddings is what we get to do for our couples. It is that emotional high and moments you cannot recreate. While I would say we love photography we love who we get to work for the most. Bronica (Brad and Monica) were as the name implies one and are a playful couple. Auto correct wanted to make them be called Bronco. That just does not have the same ring to it. We started off downtown Denver at the Westin. It was primarily a bridesmaids crew so we skipped the brothers getting ready. Really that is just a couple minutes regardless. The Westin Downtown has always provided really spacious rooms for getting ready so there is certainly no complaint with the size. Getting in can be a little harder but we got a floor key which was nice. A limo took the women over to the Museum for sliding in the dress.
The first look was in City Park and we dodged some random spurts of rain. This is where the experience is a perk as you can adapt and adjust to the conditions. Efficiency is one of those things you can gain over time as you just know how it’s going to work best. All that to say we could go with the flow and still have plenty of time for the couple, bridal party women crew, and even the planned family photos. As a sidetone we love getting all the family photos out of the way so that people can have a cocktail hour party with their guests. Hello candids – we love you!
The ceremony and cocktail hour was up on the Denver Museum of Nature and Science Sky view Terrace. The view up there is awesome and makes for a sunny private space. From there we made our way down to the first floor for the buffet dinner and toasts. The reception continued mainly on floor two with a good party. We are not sure if the venue just attracts couples who love to Dance or if the venue inspires it but the parties are always good. One thing I can note as a trend is that the party is often the best when there is the rightly sized dance floor, tall ceilings, and the couple out there dancing to music that fits the group.
Denver Museum of Nature and Science Review:
After shooting many weddings there we thought giving our thoughts would be good. We love the venue and no this is not a sponsored blog. So many venues have this one floor predictable kind of space. This one is the side of the museum. The first floor for dining is great with the big windows giving a view of City Park. You can step outside into a natural grassy space with water features. On the second floor there is a dance floor area with fun curved wall architecture and big windows. The ceiling is open to the 3rd floor. The only thing used up there is a little space for the bride getting her dress on. The Sky Terrace is where you get these epic views. It’s where everyone has done their ceremony to date. The sunsets in Denver are epic and you really need to have an open horizon view. This venue has it. You can get downtown Denver and the mountains as the sun sets and dusk hits. The staff has been good and consistent. Overall we have awesome parties. If people get a little jaded by the party raging they even have museum space open for couples to sit and talk.
To get more info on the unique Denver Area venue see the Museum of Nature & Science website. It is a venue that overlooks City Park. From City Park and certainly from the Sky Terrace you can get Downtown Denver and the mountains. If you are considering using this as your wedding venue here are the other shoots on the blog at the Museum of Nature and Science.
