The elements of an universally good proposal are surprise, suspense, and seclusion.  Everyone probably agrees with surprise. Countless times have we heard she will never know.  Just as many times did we hear that she knew something was up.  This is why we balance that with suspense. You want her to want it to come.  Hope that it will come is a good thing.  Remember that she knows you.  So it is a balance of suspense about when it may come with the surprise when it does.

For seclusion this can be a tricky one.  It takes a locals experience to know the true conditions. Anything is possible but if the person you are talking to is too positive watch out.  Any location with lots of ratings, lots of photos, has less seclusion.  The Overlook at Sapphire Point can be a tricky one for that with weddings, engagements, and family shoots.  Despite what some thing public land is not reservable.

Proposal Details:

We did the proposal in the area around Sapphire Point.  Holden and Erin were staying nearby in Breckenridge with her family. It was a little odd that they were going out to dinner alone.  When you are hoping something may happen odd is welcomed.  They got to the spot while she was unknowingly stalked by a photographer.  As they are both photographers this is a special feat.

When he pulled her close you could see her picking up on it.  Hope ensued and his being down on one knee was a huge emotional high.  She initially forgot to say yes.  Instead it was something we cannot type. It was a clear emotional YES.  This candid raw emotion is something we passionately love photographing. After the moment we continued on with some posed engagement photos. These were before the surprise arrival of some family and friends.
