Proposal Summit Lake | September
Mountain Lake Proposal at Mount Blue SkyProposal Details:
Almost every guy coming to us for a proposal wants big mountains above tree line with a lake. For Brent and Emily they were vacationing in Colorado and Summit Lake seemed like the perfect spot to get engaged. They were seeking a hike spot but then likely shifted things up a bit as a hike would mean hiking clothing. They were going to go up on Mount Evans to see the sunset. We have gone from 100 degrees in Denver to 45 and snow so the temperature change can be quite extreme certainly after the sun has dropped behind the mountains.
They were a bit late making it to the lake as they were stuck behind some slower people and passing cars can be a little daunting with steep cliffs and no guard rails. There were more people around than normal but still not a ton. The reason is because the summit of Mount Evans was closed off for the season in early September. We are not sure exactly why but believe it might have been due to icing over of the road with some storms that have come through.
They walked on down to the lake and got the spot outlined perfectly. The problem for us was when we planned it out it was earlier in the season so the angle we had to shoot at was different than what we originally planned. The normal angle would have produced a highly sun saturated image reducing sharpness so we adapted to get the shot. For that reason some may not love the look but know we will likely adjust it in the future.
You can get proposal ideas from reading past blogs and read about how we do proposals on our engagement proposals page. If you are thinking of using this location but debating between it and the Mount Evans Summit here are the other shoots up on Mount Blue Sky.
