Holi Powder Engagement
Holi Powder Night Engagement SessionEngagement Session Details:
When you have already had an engagement session and have one with your photographer what do you do? For Jacob and Amy the answer was to bring in some extreme playfulness with Holi Powder. We started at sunset on some private property in the Parker area. When we were talking through ideas of what we could do and where we could do something a little different the legality side of things was a big part of the location. Paint was pulled off the idea table based on the damage to the environment or if done right the perceived damage. Public land was also not going to work as we did not want to be a news story for vandalism. We ended up at an uncle’s home in the backyard area. Night made it so that the exact spot did not matter as much. Night photography also comes with other challenges. For this shoot we did a 3 light setup. We did a front and back light strobe with a front lit constant light so that we could get focusing aids for the camera. Looking back we likely should have split the 2 Elinchrom lighting packs into 4 light heads to literally light them from all 4 sides. That might be overkill but could have given us more unique control over the lighting angles. The main take away from the shoot is to have more powder. Either way we made it work with what we had and as you might notice they had some fun with it. We had an audience for this in their lawn folding chairs with drinks in hand laughing at their playfulness. The constant light helped this be entertaining for all as the tossed powder balls at each other.
