Proposal | Lost Gulch Overlook Trail | Summer | Colorado
Mountain Proposal at Sunset in ColoradoProposal Details:
We had a very specific proposal spot picked out. Tyler and Ally got to the location and took the more scenic route. Thankfully, she wore her hiking heels for the Lost Gulch terrain. They took a longer loop from the parking lot. This doubled the distance to the spot by going the opposite direction.
We got photos of them passing through openings in the trees. The thing we always fear is that it may not be them just going for a walk to fit better with checking out a location but them actually going somewhere else to propose. We shoot with a 300mm prime lens at this location. This allows us to be able to shoot closer to them is rather impossible if there was a last minute adjustment. They made it over to the spot as the sun was setting. With the haze from some fires the mountains were only outlined with the strong sunlight.
This location does allow for us to adjust. We did this to get more of her face in view. This caused it to be more of a wooded surrounding rather than the mountain background. Either way with a sunset, the awesome dress, and some candid proposal photos to capture the memory of it you cannot complain. Afterward we had some fun with the mountain sunset made possible by some off camera lighting. One thing we love with this time is being able to capture the many layers of the mountains across the front range.
You can get proposal ideas from reading past blogs and read about how we do proposals on our engagement proposals page. If you like what you see here and are considering using this location here are some of the other shoots we have done at Lost Gulch Overlook on Flagstaff Mountain. One thing to note is this is what we call the ‘alternate spot’ down a side trail.
