Maroon Bells Engagement | Aspen
Fall Colors at Maroon Bells with Dusting of SnowEngagement Session Details:
Getting into the Maroon Bells before it is open to vehicles becomes somewhat a pain for a pro photographer due to the equipment factor and limited bus service time. You can always bring the light set of gear but you still have to endure the bus driver acting as a tour guide pointing out everything along the way. For Graham and Jen we had a unique scenario were we had a wedding ceremony up there at the amphitheater and so we could drive in to the bells with a parking pass. They rode in on the bus and we met up to find that we needed to delay things a bit due to a passing shower. The general idea in Colorado is wait 30 minutes and it will pass. It was a little over that but it was clearly worth the wait. In the September 20-29 dates the >10k elevations are normally in the peak and decline of fall colors. Things for this shoot were mostly at the decline so the colors were slightly less bright but a gorgeous array of yellow aspen trees. Add that to the dusting of snow on the 14ers in the background and you have a fairly epic setup for photos. Lighting was frequently changing throughout the day and with the higher water level it was harder to get along the shoreline without getting others in the shot. We love that they were able to invite their dogs London and Franq to the engagement! The dogs were both really good at focusing motivated by a treat. One thing that makes things a little harder is getting a little white dog and a medium size black color dog in the same shot with a couple, strong backlighting, and a slightly cloudy sky. The photographer perfectionist side really wants to get every shot perfect in camera but unfortunately that is not always the case.
Playfulness. We love this in them. There is this natural, fun, authentic, playful relationship shared between them. It makes you have this ‘cannot wait for the wedding day’ anticipation. We will forecast this for you all that it is going to be a good party on the wedding day in Breckenridge. If you like the stuff you see here and are considering using this location here are some other Maroon Bells shoots. The thing to note is the seasons of fall colors is essentially 2 weeks with the peak being around a 1 week period.
