Morning Spring Engagement Session in RMNPEngagement Details:

There is something about the Colorado Mountain morning air that makes you love life.  For JC and Lin I am thinking the morning air would likely make them love sleeping in more.  Nonetheless they made it out of bed and over to where we met up for the engagement shoot.  If anything it seems the cool crisp mountain air might have helped with the waking up.  So if they both were not the lovers of the early morning sunrise hours what made us go for that time?  Colorado has this predictably unpredictable nature to it with the weather.  We had targeted an evening slot a few days before but the plans turned a little cloudy and then snowy.  We love the sun . . . a lot of sun.  When a front has been passing through typically after 10/11AM you will start to see some clouds build.  Once you hit the afternoon you will certainly see them drop off rain or if high enough in elevation most months of the year it would be in the form of snow.  Seriously – while it might be 90′ back home it might be snowing on you above tree line.  August is often known as one of the warmest months but we have seen it snow on us.  So you are saying it will snow on us?  Not really saying it will but you never know if there will be some snow flakes.  A little over a week before this shoot there were 40 inches of fresh snow at the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park.  As you notice in the images there is no snow on the ground.  This is due to the warmth and the amount of sun that also comes.  On this morning we certainly had the sun but as expected not at all points since the sunrise would be behind the mountains for the first 2 hours of the day.  The lighting was such that the peaks were well lit but we were often down in the shade.  This made for a different lighting recipe mix.  If you like what you see here and are considering using Rocky Mountain National Park here are some of the other shoots we have done in Rocky Mountain National Park.
