Winter Boulder Mountain ProposalProposal Details:

When you plan a proposal out in advance and seek to make it special with photography sometimes a little snow may mess with your plans.  For Adam and Emily it was more like 31 inches of snow inspiring the change up of things.  While we could have made it happen in a place with 5-6 feet of fresh snow our general take is with temperatures at a “balmy” 1 degree out and the couple staying in the city that if we can find a different option that would be ideal.

Something freed up on our schedule side of things and conveniently he was up early in the morning.  In the end changing up the location made it so that we didn’t need to fight the snowy ski traffic crowd and it allowed us to get photography with a beautiful sunlit winter wonderland feel.  We have had this proposal location at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) on our wish list for a while.  We had it planned out but not as clear for snowy conditions.  With some tweaking of things we made it work.  We saw them a ways off using a 300mm lens.  She looked cold and yet somewhat curious – well maybe just cold.

When they got ever so close to the spot she didn’t want to go on further.  He was acting weird but almost so weird coupled with the cold we don’t think she saw things coming.  We are glad it was not normal for him to propose.  After the proposal we said it was his first time so I guess that would fit the definition of ‘weird’ as in not the everyday thing.  Due to a snow laden tree being lower than normal and her slight move back when he got down on one knee we needed to shift over during the proposal to get her reaction over the normal side angle.  As the reality of what just happened sunk in we took some additional photos in the surrounding area.  The flatirons were gorgeous with the fresh powder.
