Morning Boulder Wedding with BaconWedding Details:

We got up really early for the wedding and had not gotten breakfast in so having bacon at brunch will make any photographer happy.  Jeremy and Jess thank you for being meat eaters!  It certainly was an early start in Boulder, CO.  The hair stylists had gotten up at 3AM and when we arrived after 7AM you could tell the french press coffee had been used with the good energy and emotion that early in the day.

We started with the customary getting ready photos and photos of the stuff they put on like dresses, rings, etc.  The bride maids dresses came from a local shop in Boulder.  The wedding rings were certainly unique with the emerald looking stone and swirls in his band.  From there it was off to Chautauqua Park for some photos before the wedding ceremony.  Normally we are not ones to favor clouds as that makes for semi flat photos.  Our take is that we would rather back light you with the sun and front light you with the flash as it makes the light clean and makes you pop.

With Chautauqua Park it is the kind of place that works better for later in the day yet even a few hours after we got there the people were out in masses due to the location and the holiday weekend.  The ceremony was out on the lawn which conveniently (?) is well watered and green.  Walk carefully in your heels.  There were tears needing to be wiped from the sight of seeing her for the first time on the wedding day.  The vows consisted of a vow to love her when her butt is old and for him to meet her in the middle on the thermostat.  Our guess is that with her not having any fat on her body that she likes it warmer with a big comforter at night whereas he prefers to be cooler.   There is this natural joy and raw emotion that flows out of them when they are together.  The smiles are contagious and there is certainly a love for the people they invited to the wedding.

After the ceremony we went over to the St. Julien Hotel and Spa for some brunch out on the patio.  As you might guess Bacon was on the menu as well as fruits, breads, egg frittatas, sausages, waffles, and crepes.  Mimosas were flowing as well as some other creative morning creations to toast to the bride and groom.  This might be a wedding trend for us but the night before we had a guestbook board with a bike image on it like they had for their wedding.  So we came to find out that downhill mountain biking was an extreme passion and now career for Jess and their first kiss was off of Pearl street by a bike rack as she was about to saddle up her cruiser bike.

As for some more unique things there was this bow tie standard.  It started off kinda minor but then grew into a thing of nearly every guy wearing one.  Jeremy’s passion went so far as to changing them throughout the day.  One cute thing was in the garter toss the garter was replaced with a bowtie.  Also, winner of creativity points, for the bouquet and garter toss offering awards of a liquor or beer.  The dancing was lively and mostly around the gazebo.  There was a period of dancing in the rain – literally.  The after party moved over to the World of Beer to attend to the passions of Jeremy for good beer.

St. Julien Hotel and Spa Review:

The service is consistently excellent and the space works well for a good party.  We appreciate the little details we see going into their accommodations of the party.  It might be that it is just a place that works well or has packages that appeal to those doing something from their wedding in Chautauqua Park but it seems going over to the park or having your ceremony there is a natural connection.  There are other people around as it is a hotel in service for many but nonetheless we found that the event felt rather private.  The catering they provided was delicious – especially the bacon that would stick together some allowing you to get a clump and say ‘it just stuck together’.   So after multiple times of shooting there we love it and look forward to getting back in the future.
