Wellshire Event Center Wedding | Denver
Hotel, Craft Brewery, Church, Golf Course WeddingWedding Details:
Some wedding days can have unexpected stresses. For Josh and Anna there were certainly a few unique stresses that came up. For us it seems like it might just be a matter of perspective as we have had some of the wedding party get out of jail not too long before the wedding. For them it was having an issue with the hotel room the night of the wedding, some logistics with transportation, and some sickness with the maid of honor kiddo.
The lack of it all being about the bride shows a glimpse of the love and selflessness of Anna. Never once was there this sense of ‘not on my wedding day’. Having been there for two high emotion days in their lives (wedding and Chautauqua Park proposal) we have seen some tears flowing but also a good balancing out of each other in their relationship. When you go to multiple places on your wedding day logistical transportation delays are inevitable. We generally find you need to bake in 15 extra minutes between going to different places.
We started on the 21st floor of the Hyatt downtown Denver with 50 women getting ready in a hotel room – well more like 9ish and kids. From there we went over to Great Divide Brewery where the guys were taking in a celebratory craft beer. The guys had some really awesome Bottle Breacher groomsmen gifts in an ammo container with a beer glass in it. The Holy Ghost Catholic Church was just down the road from there where they did their ceremony.
From there we made our way down to the Wellshire Event Center. We survived some photos in the 120 90 degree heat. We learned you can fit 8 people on a standard 2 seater golf cart. We look photos down by the lake not far from the Wellshire Inn. We also had some back out later for some photos as the sun was setting which were well worth it.
Some other unique things of the day were the live band playing (That Eighties Band). They certainly had a solid setup and seem to play for private events frequently. Besides good music they dressed for the theme of the band which made it not only unique but got you into it more. There was some corn hole out on the lawn, a cake with a topper from a grandparent’s wedding, and an open bar that was well used. Overall it made for a lively day with lots of opportunity for us to get those candid in the moment photojournalistic photos of wedding guests.
Wellshire Event Center Review:
We drove by the Wellshire Event Center many times without ever really envisioning it for a wedding venue. It likely is just that you don’t really consider it to be such a large and diverse location. It seems well kept and elegant. There are a lot of different spaces inside which can certainly accommodate a large wedding. While we wouldn’t say this was a small wedding it certainly wasn’t in the 300+ wedding guest range.
They had cocktail hour in the tent and on the lawn area, first dances in that spot, dinner in another large room, and the band between the two by the dance floor. The first impression might be that it feels a little too like a maze getting in there but guests can navigate it well. From a staff and food perspective things are excellent. We are 90% sure there is an event coordinator for the location but they primarily focus on the services of the venue related to setup and food. In other words don’t expect them to send you down the aisle or go find someone for you. We loved getting to shoot here and would definitely recommend it if your looking for a wedding venue that can host large weddings in the Denver area.
