We believe in inviting your dog to the wedding.  When talking with Rob and Olivia after some photos out on the deck the fact that Olivia finished the statement said a lot about a similar belief.  The second part to the idea is that the dog can decline or accept depending on what they have going on.  Crash not only was free but took on the role of the ring bearer.  Grandpa – yes it did happen and that wasn’t a dream.  In the last wedding the dog assumed the role of a bridesmaid.  That might have given grandpa a heart attack so we are glad they went the route of no bridal party.

When we met Crash in some getting ready photos at their house we could tell Crash was ready to play the part.  From there we had a first look in the dress then took some photos toward some 13ers over in Evergreen then went down to Lookout Mountain.  The rain held off for us at all the needed times.  There were some drops as we were walking back to the car and a few before the ceremony.  We love seeing the bride be chill when it comes to rain and not freaking out.  Almost every summer wedding has some type of precipitation in the course of the day.  Wait 30 minutes and things will pass.  Considering our car said it was 104 degrees on the way to the wedding we didn’t mind things cooling off a bit.

The ceremony was out on the deck by off the Canyon Room.   It being a little overcast at the time of the ceremony was ideal for lighting as the deck faces toward the northern direction so really there isn’t an ideal time of day to have a ceremony for reasons of lighting.  The ceremony was overall simple, focused on them, the relationship, and rooted in the wisdom gained from years of their grandparents marriage.  There was a cocktail hour that really just flowed into dinner with a toast here or there and kicking off some dancing.  The group felt more tight knit then some wedding receptions seem.  Sometimes there are people on the fringe but it seemed like everyone was rather close with someone and just felt in their place.

Mount Vernon Canyon Club Review:

Mount Vernon is a front range mountain venue nestled in the foothills outside Denver.  There are many different rooms and spaces but we found the Canyon Room to have a good balance of privacy with functionality.  It can work for groups up to 183 per fire code but 150 is what is listed on the website.  From the perspective of a photographer I think they did things well for the flow of the wedding with having photos ahead of the wedding.

Realistically though we got some family photos out on the deck and some photos of them as the sun was setting beneath the ominous looking clouds the venue isn’t that idea for mountainous looking couples photos.  There are some spots outside the venue in some fields that could work but overall we thought it ideal to go 15 minutes down the road to Lookout Mountain where you can get a raw rock, pine tree, and mountain look.  About 60% of our couples see each other before the wedding so this works out well if your a part of that statistic.  The room has a good flow with  foyer at the bottom of the stairs and elevator.  We like how the ceiling is decorative but consistent.  Some rooms have it go from 12 foot to 36 foot depending on where your at which makes it a little more challenging to maintain the spacial awareness for reception photo lighting.  Food from the venue was amazingly scrumptious and the staff was polite, considerate, organized, and attentive – what else could you want from a venue?
