We believe your dog should be invited to the wedding.  Hannah and Taylor not only invited but their dog accepted the invitation and was part of the bridal party.  As you can tell by this unique personalization they made the day their own.  We love it when a couple does this over getting weighed down in all the traditional wedding stuff.  When we got there a years worth of planning, designing, and now the implementing was almost done.  The setup was well thought out and well executed.  If you think we show a lot of it in this blog we realistically only showed about half of the unique wedding decor setup.

The flow in the space was really good for a wedding of around 150.  The basement of the barn was where the food was served and where the ladies got ready.  The main floor had the snack table, standard beverage table, bar, coffee table and some seating of 8 tables.  Upstairs were 5 other tables.  Details wise there was a consistency of style and color even down to the color of the snacks.  If they made blue pretzels at the snack table I bet they would have had them.  The decor had a rustic burlap and blue color tones with signs throughout the space.  Some of the signs where barn decor but others like ‘You can Dance – (Heart) Alcohol’ were definitely custom.

The wedding ceremony was short and simple.  It included custom vows, exchange of rings, and a passionate kiss.  Guests were seated at their tables or in the balcony area looking down on the ceremony.  We did something fairly similar with not having the standard seating for everyone and think it can be practical and make the wedding unique.  Outside of the ceremony things were on time but not rushed.  Cake cutting involved cake falling down the dress to be saved for later.

Speeches included the son of the best man nearly folding himself in his chair right next to the bride.  Dancing was rather lively due to the bride and groom dancing, a youthful crowd, good flow to the music, and well Mr. Alcohol.  Near the end there was a dress mishap but no loss of strapless dress.  It was supposed to rain most of the day but thankfully it didn’t start to pour till the end of the night when everyone was inside.

The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park Review:

We love shooting in barns.  The Barn At Evergreen Memorial Park was likely one of the more unique ones that felt rather solid in the overall and had more to it then images online lead you to believe.  It was well designed inside for use in wedding receptions.  The string lights are standard in the location and overall there is a lot of room.  We were expecting it to be much hotter than things felt but the cross breeze made things much more comfortable.

The space is rustic but clean.  Mounts on the wall of buffalo are free of charge.  The decoration is what we think really made the space come alive.  If anyone is wondering how to make it look amazing just hire the bride to consult you on your decor and setup of it.  The most unique thing about the space is that it is a Memorial Park.  As we heard a couple times that night the ‘marry them and bury them’.  As much as we – well Joe – has joked about shooting in a cemetery it does prove to be a more unique thing from a photography angle.

With the sunset in the west, the fencing, parking, and tombstones it makes it somewhat more limiting to shoot in from a photographers perspective.  With some mixed cloud cover we had some more options which certainly helped get some variety.  The Pines at Genesee provided the catering.  The same consistency of excellence we have experienced many times at their space is what we experienced at this location.  If you are looking for catering for your wedding put them on your list of vendors to check out.
