Proposal | Guanella Pass | Spring | Georgetown
Spring Colorado Hiking ProposalProposal Details:
It is rare in a proposal that both the guy and the girl keep getting down on one knee. For Dallas and Megan this wasn’t because of an odd engagement proposal process but rather the nature of spring hiking in the Colorado Mountains. The snow is still deep at this point between mid April when the slopes close and mid June when things start to switch over to summer. On a cold day like the 28 degree weather up on Guanella Pass the snow will have a frozen crust on top following by soft snow. Without snow shoes it is inevitable that you will fall through the snow.
Thankfully, they were laughing and having fun pulling the other out. They were on a trip to Breckenridge for Memorial Day weekend. Dallas was looking for something with a hike and a view that would’t be him just plopping down on one knee randomly. Realistically, it is hard to find in the area as either the hike is miles of you falling in the snow, snow shoes required at this point, or just without a view.
Proposal Backstory:
We had a couple different locations and plans A, B, C, and well technically plan D over on Loveland Pass if Guanella Pass was closed. It just opened up a few hours prior to the proposal. The road was clear but still a little icy in spots. There were storms blowing through this weekend so the blue bird sky was unfortunately missing. Nonetheless, we made the most of it and cracked out the champagne. The proposal spot was decided when Dallas fell in a hole and needed Megan to help dig his leg out.
Thankfully, in this area it is just bushes rather than a rocky terrain which can prove to be problematic for your feet. At the moment of him getting down on one knee it sounded like Megan said ‘Are you proposing!’ A ring then came out followed by many tears to wipe away. Of the more comical moments that friends can use for jest down the road they did find the women’s bathroom rather warm to wait in while some photo gear was changed up. Them coming out just looked humorous and photo worthy.
You can get proposal ideas from reading past blogs and read about how we do proposals on our engagement proposals page. Here are some other shoots on Guanella Pass.
